Fishing for All Abilities

Fed by five large springs and stocked throughout the season with all sizes of rainbow and brown trout, Adwell’s network of lakes provides a varied and extensive fishing experience. There is a total of eight lakes set in delightful parkland. The islands and banks have been carefully planted with trees, shrubs and wild irises not to impede your casting while creating a pretty landscape full of flora and fauna; we can even boast having 350 varieties of daffodil.

We restrict the number of rods per day in order to ensure that each member has plenty of space and can fish in comparative solitude.

Corporate Fishing

Over the years there has been an increasing interest from companies looking to come fishing either as a team or for client entertainment. We now have a number of expert tutors who are able to train at all levels, and it is remarkable how complete beginners can become adept in just a day. Many leave hooked for life!

Clients are welcomed from 10am onwards for coffee and biscuits in the house. We are able to deliver a completely bespoke experience and can arrange for a delicious catered lunch, either in the house or garden, tea and drinks.
This is a great way for teams to bond, and to entertain clients in a civilised environment, combining a fun activity which can become quite competitive.

Please get in contact to discuss your requirements. Please also see the Corporate Entertainment page for information on the other activities on offer.

 ADWELL FLY FISHING SCHOOL

The lakes at Adwell provide the perfect setting for learning to fly fish.

There are 8 separate lakes, all with varied level of challenge for the beginner and for the more

experienced fishermen.

We have some very experienced trainers who will be able to guide you through the delicate and

some say addictive art of fishing with a fly.

For the beginner, we recommend 2 half day sessions as follows:

First Session

  • Safety of yourself and others
  • Getting to know the fundamental differences to other forms of rod and line fishing.
  • Understanding your rod, reel and line plus leader.
  • Practicing the dynamics of casting.

Once you have learnt about the fundamentals and familiarized yourself with the rod and other critical equipment you will learn how to cast, first “dry” casting with a hookless fly on one of the lakeside banks, before trying some “live” casting with a normal fly on one of the lakes.

The great advantage of Adwell is that some of the lakes provide an environment where there are very few obstacles to a clean cast. You will be unlikely to get your line or fly caught in a tree or bush. This will give you the confidence to progress quicker and further towards becoming a competent fisherman.

Second Session

  • Practicing “live” casting.
  • Finding where the fish are and what they’re feeding on.
  • Fly selection.
  • Discovering the techniques to use throughout the year.
  • Hooking and playing a fish.
  • Landing fish, killing fish and safely returning fish

Because of the varied nature of the lakes we are able to show you various different habitats for fish and how they behave.

On Garden Pond, for example, you will be able to see the fish feeding, what they are feeding on, how to select an appropriate fly, and how the fish reacts to the fly.

On other lakes you will be able to practice long casting, and learn about where fish are likely to lie and what types of fly to use in different circumstances.

The Adwell lakes are well stocked, one of them being exclusively for “catch and release” and this makes it quite probable that you may catch a fish. We can pretty well guarantee that if you manage

to catch and net a fish you will be hooked!

For each half day session the cost is £200

Group Discounts are available.
